Role:

• Deployment of applications (currently focused on EnergyIP, Energy Engage and DRMS) based on documentation provided by the Technical Architect
• Deployment of any necessary prerequisite software required by the above software (e.g. Tomcat, Java, Apache HTTP)
• Deployment of application updates in the form of service packs or hotfixes
• Provide technical support and resolution to the project team for any issues potentially related to deployment of these components
• Role may have similar responsibilities in multiple projects due to the dynamics of the responsibilities
• The Engineer is expected to have a broad range of basic IT skills such as: Linux/UNIX command line Ability to use a text-based editor such as vi, File system (copy files, manage directories, check disk space availability/usage), Read/write basic shell scripts

Skills:

• We need a professional with 5 Years of experience in Networking, Understand basic design elements of TCP/IP networks, VLAN usage
• Usage of common command line network tools such as ping, traceroute, sftp, scp, tcpdump, netstat, curl
• Exposure in Security Understanding of a firewall’s role in a TCP/IP network as well as potential impact on application behavior
• Basic understanding of Active Directory & LDAP structures and accessibility from 3rd party applications
• Usage and deployment of SSL/certificates in applications like Tomcat or Apache HTTP
• Oracle Functional usage of common Oracle tools such as SQLPlus, tnsping, SQL Developer
• Create connection strings for use in tnsnames.ora or jdbc applications based on Oracle server details
• Construct basic SQL statements to query or update an Oracle database
• The only thing I would add to the above is familiarity with AWS environment. Although this is not a required skill for NPG/SPEN/UKPN DCC Application Maintenance Projects, it is very desirable in North America. Most of our solutions are hosted on some staging environment in the Cloud and knowledge of AWS is very useful.
