BARC DDFS PhD Program 2025 Admission Notification | M.E./M.Tech in Engineering | Apply Now

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, invites applications from engineering postgraduates for admission to the DDFS PhD Program commencing from July 2025. The program is offered under the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a Deemed University.

As per the BARC DDFS Admission 2025 Notification, candidates with an M.E./M.Tech or equivalent degree from a recognized institution are eligible to apply.

The selection process includes a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and academic record screening for shortlisting, followed by a final interview, where selection is based solely on interview performance.

Selected candidates will receive a fellowship of ₹80,000 per month along with an annual contingency grant of ₹60,000. Medical benefits under CHSS are available for research scholars.

Educational Qualifications

• Essential Qualification:
  • M.E./M.Tech or equivalent degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Instrumentation, or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 60% aggregate marks (or 6.0 CGPA on a 10.0 scale) in both B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech.
• Final year M.E./M.Tech candidates may also apply, but they must submit their degree certificate by 30-12-2025.

Age Limit

• General Category: Maximum 28 years as of 01-08-2025 (born on or after 01-08-1997).
• OBC-NCL Candidates: Relaxation of 3 years.
• SC/ST Candidates: Relaxation of 5 years.
• Faculty of Engineering Colleges (without Fellowship): Maximum 40 years.
• PwD Candidates: Additional relaxation of 10 years in all categories.

Fellowship & Benefits

• Monthly Fellowship: ₹80,000 per month.
• Annual Contingency Grant: ₹60,000.

• Hostel Accommodation: Mandatory during the PhD program.

Selection Process

• Step 1: Online Computer-Based Test (CBT) on 08-03-2025 & 09-03-2025.
• Step 2: Shortlisted candidates based on CBT score and M.Tech academic performance will be called for a selection interview in June 2025.
• Final Selection: Based only on the interview performance.
