Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Jadavpur, Kolkata, has invited online applications for regular full-time PhD students for the PhD Program in the Spring Semester 2027 under its various Schools and Director's Research Unit.
As per the IACS Recruitment 2026 Notification, candidates with Master's Degree, M.Sc, MS, M.Tech, B.Tech and eligible four-year Bachelor's Degree qualifications can apply for PhD Positions posts.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on merit, academic record, performance in the appropriate national-level examination and performance in the written test and/or interview conducted by the respective School.

For general candidates, 55% or equivalent in Master's degree is mandatory. For SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled and other categories, 50% marks is necessary. Minimum eligibility criteria will be as per UGC rules.
Age Limit
Candidates should be below 30 years on the closing date of application.
Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India rules.
Application Fee
The Application/Examination Fee is Rs. 1200/- for general candidates and Rs. 600/- for SC/ST candidates.

Payment can be made directly by NEFT bank transfer through Online Banking or by depositing the amount at any SBI Counter having CBS facility. The electronic transfer reference number should be mentioned in the application form.
A one-time admission fee of Rs. 15000/- and caution deposit of Rs. 10000/- are to be paid at the time of admission. The rest of the annual fees for the first year are to be paid within 6 months from the date of joining.
Salary Details
All regular PhD students who join are eligible for scholarship from IACS/CSIR/UGC/INSPIRE as per rules. Fellowship is as per IACS/CSIR/UGC/INSPIRE rules.
Selection Process
Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of merit by the respective Schools. Selection will consider academic record, performance in the appropriate national-level examination and performance in the written test and/or interview as decided by the respective School. Only shortlisted candidates will be informed through email.
