Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee invites applications for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Project Fellow positions under the DRDO-funded project titled "Object Detection using Hyperspectral Remote Sensing." The appointments are purely on a contractual basis for a duration of three years.

In accordance with the IIT Roorkee Recruitment 2025 Notification, candidates with qualifications in B.Tech, M.Tech, or Ph.D. in relevant fields and relevant experience are eligible to apply.

The selection for the desired posts will be based on merit, determined through an online interview.

The selected candidates will receive a monthly salary ranging between Rs.37000 and Rs.40000, plus HRA, with a 10% annual increment for the Project Fellow.

Age Limit

The age limit will be as per IIT Roorkee norms.

Educational Qualifications

• Project Fellow:
  • Ph.D. in Engineering or Science with 2 years of experience, OR
  • M.Tech with 3 years of experience, OR
  • B.Tech with 6 years of experience.
  • Experience Required:
    • Hands-on experience with Radiative Transfer Modeling, Meteorology, Physics-based atmospheric correction models, and Hyperspectral/Multispectral sensors.
    • Competency in Big Data Technologies and Computer Vision.
• Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
  • B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 and M.Sc. or M.Tech in Physics/Atmospheric Science/Remote Sensing or a closely related area with a minimum CGPA of 7.0.
  • Experience Required:
    • Experience with Hyperspectral/Multispectral sensors, Radiative Transfer Modeling, and programming in Python or similar languages.
