The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, invites applications for Assistant Professor positions (3 Posts) on a contractual basis at the Labour Market Research Facility (LMRF), under the School of Management and Labour Studies. These posts are tenure-based for one year and may be extended depending on performance and institutional requirements.

As per the TISS Recruitment 2025 Notification, candidates with a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree (with at least 55% marks) in relevant fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental or Social Sciences are eligible to apply. Skills in analytics, programming, data visualization, and research publications are preferred.

The selection for the above positions will be based on shortlisting and interview performance. Candidates will be informed via email about interview arrangements, which may be conducted online or offline.

Selected candidates will be offered remuneration as per the 7th CPC, Academic Level–10, and will be governed by the Institute’s norms.

Educational Qualifications

Position 1

• Ph.D. in Mathematics/Statistics or related areas
• Master’s in Mathematics/Statistics or allied disciplines with at least 55%
• Desirable: Proficiency in R/Python/Matlab, data visualization tools, teaching analytics and machine learning, and field-based research

Position 2

• Ph.D. in Environmental Studies/Geography/Geology/Climate Change/Sustainability Studies
• Master’s in related fields with at least 55%
• Desirable: Skills in GIS, remote sensing, ESG frameworks, machine learning, and sustainability

Position 3

• Ph.D. in Social Work/Development Studies/Social Sciences
• Master’s in related areas with at least 55%
• Desirable: Analytics, machine learning, sustainability reporting, and ability to coordinate fieldwork

Eligibility Conditions (NET/SET/Ph.D. Criteria)

• NET/SLET/SET qualified or Ph.D. awarded as per UGC norms
• Exemption applicable for candidates fulfilling specific UGC Ph.D. regulations or holding Ph.D. from top 500 world-ranked universities
