Responsibilities:

• Develop/update Scala and Spark SQL code per client requirement
• Optimize HQL to reduce script failures and reduce script run times
• Conduct investigation of data issues by connecting Hive schema and resolve data/code issues within fixed timeline
• Convert existing Hive and SQL code to PySpark
• Collaborates with IT and Business partners to design, develop, and troubleshoot end to end technical solutions.
• Performs complex coding to written technical specifications.
• Tests the resulting coding components in accordance with company standards and as defined in approved testing plans.
• Investigates, analyzes and documents reported defects – raising issues as appropriate.
• Analyzes run time profiles to debug errors that may exist.
• Solves complex defects that arise through own work or the work of others
• Performs maintenance programming and correction of identified defects.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have experience with Hadoop echo system
• Knowledge of complex software and information technology solutions and ability to apply to client needs
• Knowledge of different data ingestions into Hadoop, like Sqoop, Distcp
• Experience in building data processing workflows using shell scripting
• Experience in different processing frameworks - Map Reduce and Spark
• Experience in data transformation technologies in Hadoop like java map reduce, Hive, Pig
• Experience in performance tuning of Hive and Map Reduce
• Shell scripting in UNIX (AIX, HP-UX) , Autosys scheduler scripting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to cloud architecture and design patterns
• Ability to generate, understand the output of SQL Explain Plan
• Experience working with Agile Methodology
• Good experience with code reviews
