Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, Department of Civil Engineering, invites applications for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Project Fellow positions under the DRDO-funded project titled "Object Detection using Hyperspectral Remote Sensing." The appointments are purely on a contractual basis for a duration of three years.

In accordance with the IIT Roorkee Recruitment 2025 Notification, candidates with qualifications in B.Tech, M.Tech, or Ph.D. in relevant fields and relevant experience are eligible to apply.

The selection for the desired posts will be based on merit, determined through an online interview.

The selected candidates will receive a monthly salary ranging between ₹37,000 and ₹40,000, plus HRA with a 10% annual increment for the Project Fellow.

Age Limit

The age limit will be as per IIT Roorkee norms.

Educational Qualifications

• Project Fellow:
  • Ph.D. in Engineering or Science with 2 years of experience, OR
  • M.Tech with 3 years of experience, OR
  • B.Tech with 6 years of experience.
  • Experience Required:
    • Hands-on experience with Hyperspectral, Multispectral satellite and drone data.
    • Competency in Big Data Technologies, Object Detection, Computer Vision, and UAV flying.
• Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
  • B.Tech in Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 and M.Tech in Geospatial/Geomatics/Geoinformatics Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronics Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 7.0.
  • Experience Required:
    • Knowledge in Digital Image Processing, Hyperspectral remote sensing data, APIs, and Machine Learning Algorithms.
    • Proficiency in Python/JavaScript and Google Earth Engine.

Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications and experience. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an online interview.
