NIT Rourkela JRF 2025 Job Notification | Mahanadi River Basin Study 2025 | Walk-in

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, invites applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the NRCD, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India-funded project titled "Study on Condition Assessment and Management Plan for the Mahanadi River Basin." The position is purely on a temporary/contractual basis and co-terminus with the completion of the project.

In accordance with the NIT Rourkela Recruitment 2025 Notification, candidates with a B.Tech/B.E. in Civil Engineering and M.E./M.Tech in Water Resources Engineering or GIS and a valid GATE qualification are eligible to apply.

The selection for the desired post will be based on merit, determined through an offline interview.

The selected candidates will receive a monthly consolidated salary of ₹37,000.

The maximum age limit will be as per NIT Rourkela norms.

Educational Qualifications

• Essential:
  • First-class Matriculation and +2.
  • B.Tech/B.E. in Civil Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 (60%) and M.E./M.Tech in Water Resources Engineering or GIS with a minimum CGPA of 7.0 (65%) from a recognized institute/university.
• Desirable:
  • Good knowledge of Hydrological Modeling, Climate Change Modeling, GIS software, and basic estimation of hydrological extremes.
  • Candidates with GATE qualification will be given priority.

Selection Process

Based on a walk-in interview. Shortlisted candidates will work on hydrological modeling, flood and drought assessment, climate change modeling, and GIS integration as part of the project.
