In a latest announcement, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) a central govt. recruitment agency released notification to conduct Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2018 to fill 441 vacancies in different courses.
The vacancies for different premier Indian defense institutions/courses include Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and for SSC, will filled through Written Test and Interviews, held under Union Public Service Commission.
Notification for UPSC Recruitment 2017 CDS Exam (I) 2018 was released on Nov 8th 2017, on the same date the premier central recruitment agency announced opened online application, asking eligible candidates who are fulfilled below eligibility criteria can apply for the desired vacancies in announced institutions.

- Indian Military Academy, Dehradun 146th (DE) Course commencing in January, 2019 [including 13 vacancies reserved for NCC `C’ Certificate (Army Wing) holders]: 100 Posts
- Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala—Course commencing in January, 2019 Executive(General Service) [including 06 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders (Naval Wing)]: 45 Posts
- Air Force Academy, Hyderabad—(Pre-Flying) Training Course commencing in February, 2019 i.e. No. 205 F(P) Course: 32 Posts
- Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Madras)—109th SSC (Men) Course (NT) commencing inApril, 2019. (including 50 vacancies for NCC ‘C’certificate holders for NCC Spl. Entry): 225 Posts
- Officers Training Academy, Chennai—23rd SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course commencing in April, 2019: 12 Posts
Age Limit:
Candidates applying for the vacancies in Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy should be unmarried and should born not earlier than 02-01-1995 and not later than 01-01-2000.
Applicants for Officers Training Academy (SSC Course for Men) born not earlier than 02-01-1994 and not later than 01-01-2000.
Applicants for Officers Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) born not earlier than 02-01-1994 and not later than 01-01-2000.
Education Qualification:
i) For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy— Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy—Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
(iii) For Air Force Academy—Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Application Fee: Candidates Female/ SC/ ST/ PH are exempted from paying application fee. As for other candidates have to pay Rs 200/- through Cash mode or Online mode during application registration process.
How To Apply:
The application process was divided into two parts (Part-1 & 2)
Candidate initially need to visit www.upsconline.nic.in , and click on “Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC” under Recruitment tab.
From there fill the Part-1 of application process involving entering of basic details, completion and submission of the details which Registration Id is generated.
With the new Registration Id and ensuring having soft copy of documents queried to attached in notification need to be uploaded along with scanned and signed photograph of applicant in Part-II registration.
After completing the Part-2 registration process, candidate need to take print out of the application for future use.
Selection Process: Candidate will be selected based on Written Exam, and other tests i.e.. Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception, Description Test (PP&DT) (Stage I) and Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference (Stage II).
