The National Centre for Polar & Ocean Research (NCPOR), an autonomous society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, invites applications for Scientist D, Scientist C, and Scientist B positions on a direct recruitment basis. The appointments are on a regular basis.
As per the NCPOR Recruitment 2025 Notification, candidates with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant disciplines such as Marine Biology, Earth Sciences, Geology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Marine Engineering, or equivalent with the required work experience are eligible to apply.
The selection process for the desired posts will be based on merit, determined through an interview.
The selected candidates will receive a salary as per Pay Levels 10 to 12 of the 7th CPC, along with other admissible allowances.

Name of the Posts and Vacancies
- Scientist D – 1 Post (UR)
- Scientist C – 1 Post (UR)
- Scientist B – 1 Post (OBC)
Educational Qualifications
- Scientist D
- Master’s Degree in Marine Biology/Marine Sciences/Earth Sciences or equivalent OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology related to the relevant subject with at least 60% marks.
- Experience: 7 years in research, teaching, administration, or training in marine biology/microbiology/biogeochemistry.
- Desirable: Doctorate or Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant field.
- Scientist C
- Master’s Degree in Earth Sciences/Geology/Marine Geology/Environmental Science/Chemical Sciences OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in a relevant field with at least 60% marks.
- Experience: 3 years in isotope geosciences/environmental geochemistry/biogeochemistry/paleoclimatology.
- Desirable: Doctorate or Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant field.
- Scientist B
- Master’s Degree in Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Geology OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology (Mechanical/Shipbuilding/Marine Engineering) with at least 60% marks.
- Desirable: Experience in oceanographic vessel management or shipbuilding, with field experience in oceanographic surveys/sampling.
Age Limit
- Scientist D: 50 years
- Scientist C: 40 years
- Scientist B: 35 years (OBC category eligible for relaxation as per norms)
